Rishi Jaggernauth –Medical Volunteer
RHI volunteer Rishi Jaggernauth, 19 yrs old and a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Rishi’s parents are Guyanese residing in New Jersey. He is a Science Major, but Rishi’s goal is helping others through medical awareness. He is determining to educate the elderly and assist the younger generation as needed. Rishi is from a family of true humanitarians; his grandfather has a shelter in Berbice for “Abused Women”. Many women were and are being rescued from verbal and physical abuse daily.
As you can see, Rishi is a born philanthropist; his need to help other is inherited. It is truly amazing to find young adults that are this compassionate.
In May 2012, Rishi coordinated a diabetes outreach program with Skeldon Hospital and the Berbice Regional Health Authority in Skeldon Guyana. Rishi (alone) administered over 125 blood sugar tests in a week for the Region 6 Community, offering patients lifestyle recommendations and medical education to help those at risk effectively manage this disease. Rishi hopes to use the statistics collected to help Guyanese patients obtain more effective healthcare and bring to light the extent of this pernicious epidemic to promote awareness for all members of the Guyanese society.
Below are pictures of Rishi at work in Berbice, Guyana. Kudos to Rishi -an amazing young philanthropist. We at RHI were ecstatic to sponsor him and hope a lot of others follow suit.
