About us
Restoring Hope International, Inc. (RHI) is a 501 (C) (3) charitable organization registered in New Jersey, USA. RHI was founded primarily in response to the needs of the impoverished children of Guyana. The focus of this organization is to fight poverty through education. RHI shares the belief that education levels the field for children. Through education, the child of a cane cutter can become the CEO of the Sugar Estates, the child of a school janitor can become the Minister of Education; the child of a fisherman can become the President of the country. The focus of this organization is to fight poverty through education.
Currently, we are working with families in the villages of Lusignan, Good Hope and the surrounding communities living at or below the poverty line. These people are battling all the problems associated with poverty but the most disturbing one is the high rate of illiteracy that exists among parents and children.
We are aware that education is only one factor in the war on poverty. Adequate food, clothing, healthcare and an acceptable home environment are necessary for a child to achieve academic success. Research has shown that the increased stress level in a child raised in poverty affects the cognitive abilities. Our strategy is to work with parents supporting and encouraging them to invest in their children well being and education.
Our learning center, the Lusignan Good Hope Learning Center (LGHLC), is strategically located to adequately service both villages and the surrounding communities.
